Suspect Dies in Mandinary Police Chase

-

A young man is said to have died in Mandinary following a police chase that has sparked anger and unrest in the community.
According to the Gambia Police Force, the man fell during a hot pursuit while officers were on routine visibility patrols. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have urged the public to remain calm and allow the law to take its course, assuring that investigations are ongoing and further updates will be provided.
But the incident has ignited protests in Mandinary, a settlement located about 34 kilometers east of Banjul, with residents alleging police brutality. Witnesses say tensions escalated quickly, forcing officers to withdraw from the area.
The police have not yet addressed the allegations of brutality but maintain that the matter is under active investigation. Meanwhile, calls for transparency and accountability continue to mount as the community demands answers.
