President Adama Barrow has announced a cabinet reshuffle, reassigning Baboucar Ousmaila Joof from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment to the Ministry of Defence.

In the same announcement, the State House of The Gambia confirmed that Modou Ceesay, until now the Auditor General, has been appointed Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment.

The changes, effective immediately, are made under sections 71 (1) and 71 (3) of the Constitution of The Gambia, which grant the president powers to appoint and reshuffle cabinet ministers.

Meanwhile, Cherno Amadou Sowe, formerly Director of Internal Audit, has been named the new Auditor General. Masireh K. Drammeh takes over as Acting Director of Internal Audit.
This is the fourth time of the adjustment to President Barrow’s cabinet since his re-election in 2021, continuing a series of reshuffles affecting key ministries.
