During the Gambia Police Forces’ quarterly press conference, the Inspector General of Police Seedy Mukhtar Touray addressed questions on the recent Jinack cannabis farm destruction operation, where he defended police role as he emphasized that the laws of The Gambia apply in all jurisdictions, including Jinack, and that security forces were performing their duties in enforcing them.
IGP Touray clarified that the operation was led by the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG), with the police providing support as needed.
Speaking on claims or myths that police cannot enter Jinack in uniform, he said he could not comment on the matter, stressing that the Force was focused on assisting the lawful execution of the operation.
